Cannabis Council of Canada's Response to Ontario Opening the Cannabis Retail Market

“Today is an exciting day in the province of Ontario with the announcement by the Ford government of an accelerated retail roll-out plan, an increase in the ownership limit to 25%, an expansion of what cannabis retailers are allowed to sell in their stores, the implementation of click & collect and the allowance for licensed producers in Ontario to have a store located at their facility.

These are serious measures that will lead to more market certainty and give consumers more options to purchase legal, regulated, cannabis products. What’s more, today’s announcement underscores that the Ontario Government understands the economic impact and importance the legal cannabis sector has on the provincial economy.

We look forward to continue working with the Ford government to ensure the success of these necessary reforms to the cannabis system in Ontario”.
